I remember sitting on the couch, pregnant with my youngest son, tears streamed down my face heavily pregnant with my youngest son. I had ALWAYS had stay-at-home mom vibes in my heart, but unexpected fear crashed over me.
My life is significantly different now. I am in a healthy relationship. I OWN my own house. I learned how to become independent after my divorce. But there were lots of big feelings tied to staying home with my older boys.
The biggest one? Feeling trapped.
I didn’t have the MEANS to leave my marriage because I didn’t have enough money to support me and my sons without my husbands income.
The control was his. I felt powerless- caught between the desire to stay home and raise my own kids, trapped, or go to work and daycare costs being as much as I would bring home anyway.
I literally waited to leave my marriage until my kids were in school and they were somewhere during the day and I didnt have to worry about childcare.
So when my boyfriend mentioned how much he would love it if I was the one home with our son, I had huge reservations. I wanted to stay home so badly. I did it with my older boys, but it almost felt like a step backward.
A loss of my independence
I would be back to depending on someone else to take care of me. No f#cking way.
I couldn’t do it.
But I figured it out. A way I could stay home AND build my own business so I wouldn’t feel dependent on someone else.
Game changer. I couldn’t be happier. Home with my baby, and taking control of my own financial future.

Today, I enjoy the quiet mornings with my son at home, free from the fear that once held me captive.
I no longer place my future in someone else’s hands.
My journey stands as a testament to the power of resilience, the unwavering spirit of independence, and the strength of a mother who rewrote her own destiny.
