Mom brag
This morning Luca was making his breakfast( strawberries and yogurt) and set it down on the kitchen counter. I was holding Mason a little too close and he kicked his little baby feet and dumped the whole bowl off the counter onto the stool, covering his feet, the stool and the floor.
That can be frustrating when you’re 9, preparing something yourself and have to start all over again. There have been plenty of times where this would have resulted in a less than ideal response from Luca.
Today, he said, “At least the bowl didn’t shatter.”
My mom heart grew like the Grinch. It’s taken a long time of modeling- look on the bright side of things, for this to happen, but boy was I proud of how he handled it and I told him so.
Crappy things are going to happen, sometimes by your careless mom or unknowing baby brother. Today, he had the skills to handle a crappy thing and move on.
I hear those words from his mouth and know they are my own. I gave him those words.
I tend to be able to pick out fault and shortcomings easily, it’s a gift really Modeling other behavior takes practice. I’m working on it. I’m grateful to see he is watching and listening to the good stuff too.
